5 starsI truly do not know how to write the review of this novel, Family Connections by N J Neilsen This book, which began as a believable gay for you trope, turned into such a fantastically confusing and rambling story Initially, everything revolved around Ray Connelly, an independently wealthy musician who meets and falls for a slightly homophobic nightclub owner, Chris Vivvens or Viv as he is called by his family and friends Each of these men has raised a family member from a young age For Ray it is his sister s daughter, Sara, whom they call Girly For Viv, his stepbrother Daniel As soon as these four meet, the story begins this strange trajectory Apparently Ray s grandmother wants him to have a boyfriend, and Viv, while definitely presenting as straight, vo This Edition Is No Longer Available Ray And Viv Find Out Life Can Be Better Than They Ever Dreamed Possible Discovering Love Isn T Defined By Who You Are But By Who Touches Your Heart Even If The Person Isn T Who You Expected It To BeThrown Into Circumstances Beyond Their Imagining, Ray Connelly And Christopher Viv Vivvens Must Step Beyond Their Own Lifestyles To Survive The Future What Started Out With A Small White Lie And Two Men Becomes Than Either Of Them Ever DreamedRay And Viv Learn That Love Isn T Always What They Expect But In Learning To Deal With The Road Ahead, They Realise Change Can Be So Worthwhile As They Become A Family In The Greatest SenseWhen An Ex Makes And Appearance And Tries To Destroy Their Happily Ever After, The Guys Need To Find Out If They Have What It Takes To Beat The Odds With The Help Of Family And Friends, Ray And Viv Fight Their Past Demons To Make Their Future Even Better Than They Ever Thought Possible The amount of love that Viv and Ray have for each other is multiplied again and again with each new character that N.

See the entire review at The Novel Approach Great story This book made me feel like I was watching several Dynasty tv episodes in a row LOTS OF DRAMA twists and turns I will say though, this book had characters names than any book I ve ever read I had to stop and think about who was being mentioned or talked about in certain parts of the book All in all, I liked the book I will buy the sequel for sure 2.

There is suspending disbelief and then there is this book I just couldn t pull that off here.
Everyone around Ray Connelly knows he is gay His grandmother keeps asking when he s going to bring home a boyfriend But Ray isn t ready to come out yet He is worried about how his parents will take it He comes from a wealthy, prominent family and has learned that to embarrass them has devastating consequences.
Christopher Viv Vivvens is straight Always has been He and his half brother Dan own a club Why is Viv unable to keep his eyes off the singer in the last minute substitute band Why does it seem that every time he looks at the stage, the singer staring back at him Dan and Ray s niece whom he raised and thinks of as a daughter cook up a scheme behind the two men s backs They find themselves in a position where they are forced to pretend to be boyfriends The benefits are different for each of them, but the charade h edit finished this there are moments I enjoyed but overall I think this wasn t my cup of tea, so I m not gonna rate this This is a it s not you, it s me though, since personally I m very averse to drama, but others might like it.
I haven t finished the book only 40% in but I have to find somewhere to vent or else I ll spontaneously combust from frustration I had so much hope for this book from the blurb, previous review and call me shallow but that beautiful image in the cover.
Overall I guess it s a decent book, but it grates on my nerves as the book progress The chemistry between Ray and Viv is palpable they re generally sweet together.
Here we have Ray, a singer in a band and Christopher Viv Vivvens, a club owne When finished this book I was a little amazed at how far the story went from where it was in the beginning There were a lot of surprise as Viv and Ray found each other and their family The writing style and most of all the characters were engaging and made me want to read what happened to them The only thing that stop me from rating this higher was improbability of a lot of things in the book view spoiler I couldn t help but think Viv s denying he loved Ray went on a ridiculous amount of time considering how intimate he was with him His reasons were also rather weak and unbelievable But the end where and kids kept popping up just got to be to much for me It also seemed unlikely that everyone just melded together so easily It did make for a feel good story but it stretched the limit of my belief hide spoiler This book probably struck somewhere between a 3 and 3.
5 read for me.
The style and topic felt like a comfy coat you know what you re going to get and you do The first half of the story is all about Ray and Viv getting together I wanted to yell at Ray for giving into Viv all the time and to yell at Viv to wake up and acknowledge who he is They do dance around each other a lot and have lots of things happen around and to them.
The second half of the book I found compelling just to see how much could be put into a story and onto the characters babies arriving everywhere Yes, it was a bit daft and sometimes the reality and dialogues had me going really but it was fast paced so didn t feel like too long a story and as a reader, I felt I had to keep reading no matter what to see what befell Ray and Viv next.
Though I think the constant popping up children everywhere from different sources is very outlandish and improbable, I really liked this book I thought Daniel was weird and that it was strange that Girly wasn t upset by some of the things he said, but he was a fun character I love GG and want to adopt her as my grandmother I didn t understand Viv s compulsion to go back to Grace again and again, but I liked him and was fascinated and touched by his journey of self discovery I was really glad when he accepted his love for Ray All in all Great story with some slightly scattered writing Vivid characters that I look forward to seeing again Very enjoyable and fun to read Lovely book, 4 stars.
